Madeleine Kimble

Born in New York City and raised in Westport, CT, I'm an east coast native with a love for all things related to art and media. I've been drawing since I was four years old. My main inspiration and passion comes from cartoons, specifically Japanese anime and manga. In my heart I think of myself as a cartoonist. In 2016 I graduated from the University of Michigan with highest honors, and published an honors thesis entitled Online Gendered Harassment and Violence: Naming the Harm and Punishing the Behavior. After graduation, I secureda full time position at Rockafeller Center in NYC.  My "Tools of the Trade" are Photoshop and "Illustrator." If you would like to learn more about my work, I invite you to visit my website: As someone who has only just started to walk down the path of her own life, I am honored that I was given the opportunity to act as a freelance illustrator to help these lovely ladies in creating their book.

I cannot say enough good things about Maddie. She worked tirelessly on the images for our book, making sure each picture captured the essence of the chapter. In addition, she wanted to make sure each author was completely happy. If there was a detail in her image that an author wanted changed, Maddie gladly went back to the drawing board. All they had to do was let her know and she'd change it.

Maddie also created the lovely, yet powerful, cover for our book. She made so many different looks for the title and had to play with the saturation levels of the blue sky many times. Getting the women's clasped hands to fit together in the center of the spine was a challenge. Yet when more pages were added with a new chapter, she again worked to make sure the hands were just right. Maddie created at least 30 versions of our cover, sometimes working until the wee hours of the morning to meet a deadline. She did all this after working a full time job in NYC.

Maddie's talents do not stop there. I discovered she is creates wonderful comics and I have hired her to draw some for my blog. She has the ability to create exactly what I envision, which is a real gift. Please stay tuned to our website and especially my "In- Fertility and Friendship" blog. I think you will enjoy Maddie's comics (which were especially created for people going through infertility) and maybe even get a chuckle or two. Everyone loves a little well-timed humor when going through a difficult time.

Thanks from the bottom of my heart, Maddie, for all you have done for us. You are the BEST!

With love and gratitude,

Sue, Anthologist and Co-Author
